My Mother

A Saga

The tongue of the three S: Sadness, suffering, solitude

January 01, 2014  /  Raquel Angel

I thought they were born old.
I didn't know if they still had a name.
I couldn't understand their tongue-
It seemed more ancient than words.
Now I know it was the language of sadness, of suffering, of solitude.

Background: neighbors-two old sisters, seen in the eyes of a child. My mother speaks.
